This weekend Tempus Fugitives had the opportunity to compete at the Wessex League Tournament Series London Leg in Southwark, where our club was founded!

Tournament Prep (yes, those are forks…)

Wessex League is the UK’s top tournament series, bringing the best of British together to compete in the categories of Longsword, Sabre, Sword & Buckler and Rapier & Dagger. It is an event with one of the UK’s most experienced organising panels and several stars of the European competition scene in attendance.

Although tempers flared in the heat of the contest, the event lived up to the series well deserved reputation for fairness and its close and easygoing community.

In the aftermath, Tempus Fugitives is pleased to announce another weighty medal haul, with Maria Makarova winning Gold in Women’s Rapier & Dagger, and Bronze in Women’s Longsword. Stefano Conese took Silver in Open Sabre, and Bronze in Open Sword and Buckler. We are proud of all our competitors and members who took part in athletic and volunteer capacities, but cannot fail to mention Mathew Holden-Williams, who made it all the way to the finals in Sword & Buckler before going out by one point.

Team TF (and apparently I stand like this??)

The next Wessex League event will be in Oxford this November, and so will we!
