Period: 16th – 17th c.
Source: Inspired by originals from the 16th and 17th centuries, this is the type of blade that might have been used according to the teachings of Paulus Hector Mair in his great compendium of German martial arts (1540). Both this and it’s Italian counterpart can be seen in paintings of Elizabeths court at the end of the 16th century.
